It is answering very important questions as to how students develop from education especially at a young age and how that continues go to with them through their whole life. She chooses to do students who are of low-income because they are more likely to have negative emotions towards learning due to many stresses at home. In this article she proves that children show more interest and happiness in music dance and visual arts than in traditional early learning classes. This enthusiasm leads to children having more positive emotions once they reach grade school and continue to want to learn. Through the article there are many studies done between preschoolers at Settlement Music School’s Kaleidoscope Preschool Arts Enrichment Program. And preschoolers at a preschool that does not include full integration of the arts. This article informs us that children should start out young when learning through the arts so they can continue to be interested in learning as they get older.
Reaction: The statistics shown after the study are very surprising, arts is often over looked as important so it is weird to see that attendence rates do in fact increase when arts is incorparated in the schools. The studies showed much on how academic acheievement has to do with arts and this was an important part of my research because psychologically the brain works better when creativity is combined with logic and these results demostrate to us that it is true that grades improve with the arts intergrated programs.

It is showing facts on how arts in education are beneficial to students not only emotionally but academically as well and it is a way that a child and young adult can express themselves. It shows many statistics as to which schools have arts intergrated programs and which schools don't, and usually it is the low income schools who don't. This article is showing us how important arts in education is because a talent you develop continues to be with you forever and it should be of a bigger importance that every school has it regardless of a persons etnicity or income background.
Reaction: This article had much research that was helpful in every part of my groups research. It was handy in my part of the presentation when it showed us that lower income communities lack education programs. What I tried to prove to the class is that students who do go through arts integrated programs have a better emotional level than students who don't. With this article it is proving that children who have lower income are usually children who cause trouble or have less interest in learning and now I know that the reason for this is because most of the schools don't let the child express who they are through the arts.

With art a child is willing to work from outside the box and think more complex, this prepares for a worker who is willing to apply himself and do a better job at what ever they do.
Reaction: What I like about this article is that it is more blunt on the importance of arts education for children, than any other article I have read: "a tool for nurturing children’s social and emotional development is being lost." This article was helpful by giving me the information needed for my presentation to prove to the classroom that arts programs are very important, it taught me that arts is not only drawing but it involves things like theater and this is also important to have as an addition to an arts school. This way a child is learning how to collaborate with other children fairly, is ganing more confidence for himself and learning how to comminicate better with others. Personally, arts was not an important part of my school when I was younger and I believe if there was more theater types of classes or singing in front of each other when I was back in elemantary school, my confidence to present in front of a large crowd would increase and I would be more succesful at it.

The article shows many of the trends that prove that their is lack of arts education in the US.
Reaction: The person who wrote this article has a strong opinion towards arts in education in the schools of the United States, What I liked about this article is that even though it is opinionated it provides many facts that I had not seen in any article. This person was one who talked about the government, how George bush said the arts test scores will improve but then the person provides proof as to how it has not improved at all. This person also sees both sides of the arguments, which is something that I found very reasonable to do, he agrees with people who find little interest in the arts education because it is not crucial for a child to succeed in life, but he says that is no reason to take away a privilege children have to explore the world in a different way.
